What date did you begin working at the hospital?
I relocated from Northern Virginia on March 3rd and began working for Fremont end of March 2022.
When did you first realize your love for animal care?
I realized my love for animal care after graduating high school in 2013. My first job was as a kennel assistant at Springfield Animal Hospital in Virginia.
Do you have any pets, if so what kind? What are their names and ages? Any fun facts about your pets?
I currently do not own a pet, but I had multiple dogs growing up.
How do you spend your free time? What are your hobbies?
Currently because I am new to Seattle, I like to explore the city and visit popular sights. Making new friends and trying different food spots in my free time. Being that Seattle is full of nature, I have visited different parks to go hiking in. During the warmer months, attending concerts and venues is another hobby of mine.

Gemma
Veterinary Assistant
Gemma grew up in Bend, Oregon, and went on to attend Whitman College. She is currently taking a few years to gain hands-on experience in veterinary medicine before pursuing her long-term goal of attending veterinary school.
Outside of the hospital, Gemma stays active and adventurous. She plays competitive ultimate frisbee and is a member of Seattle’s professional team. When winter rolls around, you can often find her backcountry skiing in the mountains. At home, she shares her life with her two cats, who keep things fun and full of personality.
Taye
Veterinary Assistant
With seven years of experience as a veterinary assistant, Taye is dedicated to compassionate, fear-free care for every patient, especially the spicy cats and nervous dogs. She treats every animal as if they were her own and prides herself on being a strong advocate and voice for those who can’t speak for themselves.
Taye’s long-term goal is to work in zoology and exotic animal care, preferably in wildlife conservation; aspiring to follow in the footsteps of Steve Irwin and Jane Goodall.
At home, Taye’s house is run by her two perfect cat children, Ronald Weasley, a fluffy orange boy; and Neville Longbottom, a silly Torbie lady.
Jesika
LVT
My name is Jesika (she/any). I grew up just north of NYC, and a few years after getting a BFA in painting/drawing, I moved to Colorado to get a BS in zoology from Colorado State University. I worked in wildlife rehabilitation for five years, mainly with squirrels and raccoons, and I began working in small animal vetmed in 2019. I have two cats. Annie is a shy but cuddly 10 year old DMH I adopted from a shelter when she was 8 months old. Then while working at my first vet clinic, a client rescued an abandoned pregnant cat, and one of her kittens is my now 6 year old orange boy Marty.
Outside of work, I love hiking, road trips, and camping, and am trying to see all the National Parks. I still tap into my artist side through cosplay, illustration, and landscape/wildlife photography.

Mya
Receptionist
Mya was born and raised in California, and moved to Seattle with her family as a teenager. She attended the University of Washington, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies. She has loved all animals from a young age, and caring for her own pets at home helped spark her interest in animal care. Mya has a very playful 3 year old tuxedo cat named Cricket (also known as “Kitty”). In her free time, she enjoys snowboarding, camping, paddleboarding, baking, and collecting CDs and vinyl.
Jane
Receptionist
Jane joined Fremont Animal Hospital in June 2023 as a receptionist. In her role, she supports the front desk by assisting clients, coordinating appointments, and helping ensure the daily flow of the hospital runs smoothly. At home, she has a shorthair tabby named Spoons, who has a big personality.
Fred Johnson
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Fred spent his childhood on a ranch in Wyoming where he developed his love for animals. He took an unconventional route to becoming a veterinarian. He spent two years pursuing a degree in music education before deciding he wanted to do something more, so he enlisted in the Air Force for 9 years where he was sent on deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan.
Dr. Fred knew he didn’t want to be in the military for the rest of his life and knew he wanted to give back in a humanitarian way. While on vacation in Greece, he learned how well their stray animal population was treated, and he knew exactly how he could give back. He still had two years left on his enlistment, so he researched what he would have to do to become a veterinarian. His path led him to the University of Wyoming where he attained a Bachelors of Animal Science degree.
After four years of hard work, he was accepted to the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine where he met his partner Dr. Holly Hinnant and graduated in 2024. While interviewing for a future career in veterinary medicine, he had two working interviews at Cara clinics where he fell in love with the work environment and knew this was the place for him.

Makenzie
LVT
I graduated from Windward College in Hawai’i in 2019 with an associate’s degree in veterinary technology. I began working at Fremont Animal Clinic in March 2023. My love for animals stems from my father being a humane officer growing up and always having a house full of pets to care for. I realized then that I wanted to have a career helping animals. I am especially interested in dentistry and helping pets maintain good oral health.
My two dogs, Poke (bully mix) and Lilee (chihuahua) are my heart and soul.
In my free time, I enjoy gardening, a variety of arts/crafts, and finding the next trail to hike in the PNW.
Megan
LVT
Hello! My name is Megan (she/her). I have an associates degree in Aquarium Sciences, and worked at the Seattle Aquarium for 7 years before deciding to change careers. In late 2023, after completing the veterinary technician program through PIMA, I became an LVT.
I have loved creatures large and small all my life, especially fishes and reptiles. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with aquatic species in a husbandry capacity for most of my early adulthood, but have really enjoyed making the move to taking care of the fluffy/warm critters in general practice.
At home I have a leopard gecko named Newt and a Kenyan sand boa named Noodle. I also have plants on every surface in my home. I’ve been especially excited about carnivorous plants and creating terrarium. Some of my other hobbies include quilting, crocheting, and cross stitch. I love the process of creating 😁
